Tool Belt Logic ("the App," "we," "us") is a multi-mode professional construction calculator with voice interaction, AI-powered assistance, and construction plan/PDF tools. It is available on iOS, Android, and the web (at tb-logic.com), and is operated by Chill Inc. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, who processes it, and your choices.
You can use the calculator without creating an account. The plan reader requires a free Tool Belt Logic account, because your plans and the work you do on them are saved to that account. Other features — syncing your work across devices, the web app, working together in crews, and the AI assistant — also use an account and/or send content to the processors listed below. Not every feature is available to every user; features you cannot access do not collect data from you.
A Tool Belt Logic account is one email address. You sign in with a 6-digit code we email to that address (and then a password you choose), or with Sign in with Apple or Sign in with Google. Your account owns your subscription and your saved work, and lets you sign in on more than one device (phone, tablet, and the web).
When you create an account we store, on our server: your email address, the name you enter, a phone number if you choose to add one, your password if you set one (stored only as a one-way hash, never readable), account created and last sign-in timestamps, and the identifiers of the devices you sign in on. If you sign in with Apple or Google, we store the identifier those services return, and the name and email they share, so we can recognize you next time. Signed-in sessions are stored so you stay logged in. The calculator remains usable without an account.
TB Logic keeps what it needs to work for you: to save your work, keep your devices in step, fix problems fast, and make its intelligence stronger for you.
Where the crew feature is available, you can invite people to a crew (by an email link or your phone's share sheet) and share a job with them. When you do, the people you invite can see the shared job's contents.
Content you place in a shared job is visible to that job's crew. Content that is not shared to a job stays private to you.
Before you use any AI feature for the first time, the App asks for your explicit consent. No data is sent for AI processing until you agree, and you can turn it off in Settings. When you use these features, we send the relevant content to the providers below, who process it under business/enterprise terms and do not use it to train their own models:
Receives your chat text, your selected mode, images or plan pages you ask us to analyze (we render plan pages to images for visual analysis), and — on a voice command the App cannot handle locally — the small on-screen snapshot described above. Used to generate AI answers and to analyze plans and images. Anthropic may keep request content for up to 30 days for safety and abuse monitoring, then deletes it. See Anthropic's Privacy Policy.
Receives your voice audio to convert speech to text, and receives answer text to produce spoken audio (text-to-speech), processed in real time and not retained after processing — every request carries Deepgram's opt-out from its model-improvement program. Voice is sent to Deepgram when our own speech model (above) is not used. See Deepgram's Privacy Policy.
Receives a random identifier for your app install and, once you sign in, your account ID, along with your purchase and subscription status, to manage subscriptions and verify purchases. When you delete your account, we delete your RevenueCat customer record. If you subscribe on the web, checkout is run by RevenueCat Web Billing using Stripe (stripe.com), which receives your email address and payment details. Sends transactional email on our behalf — your sign-in codes and crew invitations — and to do so receives the recipient email address. It also delivers crash and problem reports to us, which can include your account email. Resend keeps sent email for up to 30 days. See Resend's Privacy Policy.
Delivers push notifications for crew and job activity to your device, using a device push token. See Expo's Privacy Policy.
Hosts our servers and the database that holds the data described in this policy. See Railway's Privacy Policy.
When shared jobs are configured to use it, plan files for a shared job are stored with a cloud object-storage provider (Amazon S3 or compatible) so crew members can download them. Where it is not configured, files are handed directly between devices.
PDF and plan text extraction is performed on our own servers using standard tools — we do not send your uploaded documents to a third-party document-parsing service. We also run our own AI models on rented cloud computers (RunPod), among them TB Brain, Tool Belt Logic's own AI — one of the two AIs we use, with Anthropic's. They can receive plan pages you work on with the AI (TB Brain reads plans too), photos you send to the AI chat (to read them before the answer is written), voice you record (to turn it into text), and the questions you ask the AI chat (TB Brain works on them too). Nothing that identifies you — no name, email, or account — is sent with that content, RunPod discards the results within minutes, and these models are ours: nobody else uses the content. How we use your content to improve our own tools is described under “Data Ownership & Improving the App” below.
If you work in a language other than the one a plan is drawn in, the App can translate the plan's labels and notes. To do this, the text written on the sheet (with the sheet number for context) is sent through our server to Anthropic for translation, and the result is stored on your device so the plan never needs translating twice. Numbers, dimensions, and sizes are never sent for translation and are never altered — they are locked before translation begins. Translations are marked in the App as machine translation and are subject to the accuracy disclaimer below.
Some plan pages are scans with no readable text. To name those sheets and make their references tappable, the App reads the lettering using your phone's own built-in text recognition (Apple Vision on iOS, Google ML Kit on-device on Android). This happens entirely on your device — nothing is uploaded, and it works with no signal.
The web app sets a single session cookie (tb_session) when you sign in. It is httpOnly, SameSite=Lax, and exists only to keep you logged in. We do not use analytics or advertising cookies.
You own your content. The way you work (your chats, your calculations, the corrections you make, the plans you run) is what teaches TB Logic to help you better. It's kept in our own secure database and used, including in de-identified or combined form, to make the app's tools and intelligence stronger for you and every builder who uses it.
Your chats, jobs, and uploaded documents are retained on our servers until you delete them — individually, or all at once — or until you delete your account. Local data (preferences, history, trade terms) is cleared by uninstalling the App or clearing app data. We may retain de-identified and/or aggregated data to improve the App.
Shared jobs: only a job's creator can delete a job for everyone; when they do, the job's content (including crew members' marks, counts, and uploads made on that job) is retained by the creator's account before the job is removed from the crew. Any member can leave a shared job at any time, which removes it from their devices; content they contributed stays with the job. Deleting a file removes its bytes from your account and devices, while the marks and takeoff lines recorded on it are kept as part of the job's record.
Deleting your account: you can delete your account from within the App (Settings → Account → Delete account), on our delete-account page, or by emailing support@toolbeltlogic.com. Deleting your account erases from our servers: your email and sign-in details, every signed-in device, your synced plans and their files, marks, measurements and takeoffs, saved calculations, schedule items, your chats and uploaded documents, and our AI records of your conversations. Jobs you created that nobody else is on are erased. If a crew is still working in a job you created, the job stays with them without a creator; what you added to any shared job stays with that job with your name removed, and your messages in it are deleted. Crash reports are kept (up to 12 months) with your account details removed. Deleting your account does not remove the copy on your own devices (uninstalling the App does), and it does not cancel a subscription — cancel that with Apple or Google.
When you delete your account, we delete it and everything tied to you: your plans, jobs, chats, settings, and the AI’s notes about you. One thing can stay: general building know-how the AI learned while working with you, such as which schedule to check before counting hold-downs. Before we keep any of it, we remove everything that could point back to you or your jobs: names, emails, phone numbers, addresses, job and plan names, prices, and measurements from your plans. Anything we can’t fully clean is deleted, and nothing we keep is used for anyone else until a person has reviewed it.
Deleting your data but keeping your account: email support@toolbeltlogic.com with “Data Deletion Request” in the subject, and we will erase everything your account keeps on our servers while keeping your sign-in and subscription (see our data-deletion page).
Tool Belt Logic is a tool to assist your work — it does not replace your own judgment, and you are responsible for the work you do with it.

The App is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
We may update this policy from time to time; changes are reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
