Overview
ulator-Calc ("the App") is a multi-mode professional calculator with voice interaction and AI-powered assistance. Your privacy is important to us. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and your rights.
Data We Collect
The App collects the following data:
Collected Automatically
- Anonymous Device Identifier: A random UUID generated on your device. This is not linked to your Apple ID, phone number, email, or any personal information. It is used solely to keep your data separate from other users.
Provided by You (When Using AI Features)
- Text Messages: Messages you type or dictate in the AI chat assistant.
- Voice Recordings: Audio captured when you use voice commands or push-to-talk. Audio is used for transcription only and deleted immediately after processing.
- Documents & Photos: PDFs, blueprints, and images you upload for AI analysis.
- Calculator Mode: Your currently selected mode (e.g., "Construction," "Electrician") is included for context in AI requests.
Stored Locally on Your Device
- Calculation history and saved items
- App preferences and settings
- Custom slang and trade terms
No Account Required: The App does not require you to create an account, log in, or provide any personal information such as your name, email address, or phone number.
Third-Party Data Sharing
The App shares certain data with third-party services to provide AI-powered features. Before using any AI feature for the first time, the App asks for your explicit consent. No data is sent to third parties until you agree.
1. OpenAI (openai.com)
What we send:
- Text messages you type or speak in AI chat
- Photos, PDFs, and documents you upload for AI analysis
- Your calculator mode (e.g., "Construction") for context
Why: OpenAI processes your messages and documents to generate AI responses, analyze blueprints, and provide trade-specific calculations.
Data protection: Data sent via the OpenAI API is not used to train OpenAI's models. See OpenAI's API Data Usage Policy.
2. Deepgram (deepgram.com)
What we send:
- Voice audio recordings when you use voice commands
Why: Deepgram transcribes your spoken words into text for the calculator and AI chat.
Data protection: Audio is processed in real time and is not retained by Deepgram after transcription. See Deepgram's Privacy Policy.
3. RevenueCat (revenuecat.com)
What we send:
- Your anonymous device identifier (for subscription management)
- Purchase and subscription status
Why: RevenueCat manages in-app subscriptions and purchase verification.

What We Do NOT Collect or Share
- Your name, email address, or phone number
- Your Apple ID or Google account
- Your location data
- Your contacts or calendar
- Your calculation history (stored locally only)
- Your app preferences (stored locally only)
How We Use Your Data
- AI Responses: Messages and documents are sent to OpenAI to generate helpful answers in your trade context.
- Voice Transcription: Audio is sent to Deepgram (primary) or OpenAI (fallback) to convert speech to text.
- Document Analysis: Uploaded PDFs are processed on our server and analyzed via OpenAI for content extraction and discrepancy detection.
- Conversation History: Chat messages are stored on our server (linked to your anonymous device ID) so you can access past conversations.
- AI Personalization: Facts you share in conversation (e.g., preferred units, local building codes) are stored on our server to personalize future AI responses. This data is linked only to your anonymous device ID.
- Subscription Management: Your anonymous device ID is used with RevenueCat to verify subscription status.
Data Ownership
Your data belongs to you. All calculations, documents, conversations, corrections, and knowledge generated through the App remain your property. We claim no ownership or license to your content beyond what is necessary to operate the service.
- Your data is never sold to any third party
- Your data is never used to train AI models — not ours, not OpenAI's, not anyone's
- Your data is never shared with other users or applications
- No third-party AI, scraper, or intelligence system has access to your data
- All API calls to third-party services (OpenAI, Deepgram) use enterprise-grade API access where your inputs and outputs are not used for model training
Data Storage and Security
- Server-side data (conversations, documents, AI learning) is stored in a PostgreSQL database
- All data transmission uses HTTPS encryption
- Data is isolated per device — no user can access another user's data
- Server responses include security headers to prevent data interception and misuse
- API endpoints are rate-limited to prevent automated scraping or data extraction
- Share links use cryptographically strong random codes
- We do not sell your data to any third party
Data Retention
Conversations and documents are retained on our servers until you delete them within the App. You can delete individual conversations or all data at any time. Local data (preferences, history, slang) can be cleared by uninstalling the App or clearing app data.
Children's Privacy
The App is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
Your Rights
- You can decline AI data sharing when first prompted — the calculator works without AI features
- You can delete your conversations and documents at any time from within the App
- You can use the App in offline mode to avoid any data transmission
- You can uninstall the App to remove all locally stored data

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
